I offer this poem for National Poetry Day, 7th October 2021 and for World Mental Health Day, 10th October 2021
Together We Walk on the Common
Dark clouds threaten, rain
not bombs
not shrapnel!
We walk easily on trodden grass
sharing stories
victims of war
Government made arrangements
for ten families
per authority
Barely a dent in the suffering, we live
with the wounded
heavy on our hearts
And yet, slowly, together we forge
new friendships
new horizons
we cry, we laugh
Because we can…
